NEWS/BLOG

23 Sept 2009: Having acquired a Tascam US-122L interface and Cubase LE4 software, I'm working hard on getting to grips with it, expect results soon (I hope!).

24 March 2009: Spring is in the air and recording is going well. Two new tunes are now up on the MySpace Player, "Past, Present and Future" and "Glass Torpedoes", an instrumental tribute to the late 70s Peel favorites of the same name, even if some people think it sounds more like Felt!

14 Feb 2009: Lordy, over a year since I've put anything on here! Well, where to start? There has been a certain amount of domestic upheaval, for want of a better phrase, which has led to music going onto the backburner for a while. However, things are a bit more settled now and HNMM! not only have a new base in the North Essex/South Cambs/West Suffolk triangle but recording has recommenced. The backing tracks for "Past, Present and Future" are now complete although the vocals are still to be re-done and due to a bout of bronchitis that isn't going to be for a little while. Just to say that things are still in the pipeline and hopefully I'll get that damned first album finished this year!

Many thanks to all the messages of support and encouragement either in person, via e-mail or via the band's MySpace - this has been much appreciated during a difficult time.

23 Dec 2007: Link to "rock-interviews.com" added - many thanks to Anne-Marie and Bernard Mondan for the link to their site and the support and friendship. Photo below shows Dale and Anne-Marie at a Stranglers' gig in Sint Niklaas, Belgium Nov 2007.

04 Nov 2007: Goodness, I've not put anything on here for a while! To be honest most updates and news have been going on the MySpace as it's quick and easy to do from anywhere but that does mean that those who aren't looking on the MySpace will miss out. So, what's been going on then? I put a rough demo of "Catherine Wheel" up on the MySpace player a few weeks ago and that's had a good reception even though it's nowhere near complete and I sang the same verse twice by mistake!! There are a few other new songs in the pipeline and Norwich vocalist "Night Maiden" aka Maz is working on a version of "Not Like I Do" which should be well worth a listen when it's done. Other than that, I'm hoping to get hold of some new PC interface kit and software which should improve the production process. Right, I'm off now down to the musical event of the year, The Stranglers at The Roundhouse!

23 July 2007: Website update!

09 May 2007: Work is progressing on the album with another track, "No Escape" due on the MySpace site within the next day or so. This was originally a lyric that I'd written for someone else but decided to keep and do something with myself. It's a very powerful song with the distinctive HNMM! driving bass and echoey guitars but with the vocals in a much lower key than has been the case up to now, possibly for the best, eh?!!

02 Apr 2007: I'm currently working on tracks for the debut album, "Apes, Ivory and Peacocks", one of which, "Not Like I Do" is now up on the MySpace site and has been the fastest track so far to the 100 plays mark (around 10 days). Speaking of which "Watch and Wait" is approaching the 1,000 plays on the HNMM! site whilst it's received over 200 on the South View Studios MySpace. I've received a lot of really good comments and reviews of the songs on MySpace, which is really encouraging and constructive and thanks to everyone who's taken the time to listen and let me have their views.

"Celebration" is currently being played on  Click here to listen to Anarchy on the Net! where it sits alongside the likes of The Stranglers, The Damned, The Smiths, The Buzzcocks and many other legendary bands. Once again, a big "Thank you" to Natalie down in Canberra for putting He's Not My Mate! on the air and on the web.
